The Boys Varsity bowling team took 4th place today out of 26 teams in the Big Blue Challenge tournament at the Game of Fairfield!
The format for this tournament is 3 individual games and 6 Baker games, with the team with the highest total pinfall as the winner. The boys did great today! Sophomore Ethan Rowe led the team with 2 nice games of 201 & 214, and a 572 3-game series. Junior James Prater was only 1 pin behind him after he had a mid-series game of 182, but finished strong with an awesome 238 game! Junior Jacob Cowgill had a couple nice games also when he rolled a 180 game and 200! Junior Matthew Minor was pretty solid during his set with games of 193, 175, and 203, while teammate and fellow Junior Austin Smith added in a 212 & 187!
We were in 4th place going into the Baker Round, down only 36 pins to the 3rd place team. The boys put together an awesome 1st game of 231, dropped hard the next game, but threw the next 3 games in the 180’s. Unfortunately, the last game was much lower, which kept them from taking over the 3rd place team, finishing just 37 pins out.
Keep your head up boys! You did great! Just remember that with coming in 4th place, you beat 22 other teams, including ones that have dominated the area in recent years! We’ll take it next time!
Way to go Middies!
