The Girls Varsity bowling team took 15th place today out of 27 teams in the Big Blue Challenge tournament at the Game of Fairfield!
The format for this tournament is 3 individual games and 6 Baker games, with the team with the highest total pinfall as the winner. For being the 1st tournament of the season, and having 4 new members on the team, they did pretty well! Sophomore Emily Cupp led the team with games of 177, 155, & 158, for a 163 average! Junior Toni Mullins had a great start to her series when she threw a nice 172 game, followed by a 155! Freshman Rhianne Theiss threw 2 good games of her own with a 133 and 148, and Senior Faithlyn Israel rolled a high game of 151! Good job ladies!
The squad was in 14th place going into the Baker Round, but could not put together enough good games to move up higher in placement, but they only dropped down 1 to finish in 15th place.
Coach Woody would like to say how proud he is in what the girls accomplished today as a “new” team, with having so many bowlers who not only have never bowled before, but also have never been to a tournament. They did well, kept their heads up, and had tons of fun doing it! With more practice and adjustments, you will only go up from here!
Way to go Middies!
