The Girls Varsity bowling team finished in the top 16 teams in the Back 2 School Bash tournament at the Game of Fairfield!
The format for this tournament is 2 individual games and 2 Baker games, and then after lunch, go head to head, best 2 out of 3 Baker games in an elimination bracket until a winner is determined.
Despite having 2 girls out sick, and only having the minimum requirement of 5 bowlers to participate, the girls put on their best performance so far this season! Sophomore Emily Cupp led the team with games of 160 & 192 for a 176 average! Freshman Rhianne Theiss threw her 2 highest games of the season and finished 38 pins over her average, with games of 169 & 155! Junior Toni Mullins had 2 of her highest games of the season also when she rolled a 153 & 163, for a 158 average, which is 26 pins over her average! The 1st round Baker scores were higher than normal also, 147 & 123!
Even with these great scores, the team was in the bottom 6 after Round #1. They came back and won the “all-in” match to get into the Top 16 by defeating their opponent with Baker games of 161 & 139, which are well above their season average! That put them up against the #2 seed Fairfield, where unfortunately they were not able to beat and were then eliminated from the tournament. Overall, with not having extra bowlers for subs, and the higher than average scores that were bowled today, the Lady Middies did an awesome job and we are very proud of them!
Way to go Middies!
