Boys Varsity Bowling · Boys Varsity Bowling Districts Results

The Boys Varsity Bowling team finished 15th in the Southwest District Districts Tournament today at Beaver-Vu Bowl.

The format for the tournament is 3 regular games and 6 Baker games, with the top 5 out of 24 teams advancing to the next level. There are also 5 individuals that get to advance based on total pinfall from bowlers that are not part of the 5 teams already advancing. This includes the best teams in the Greater Dayton and Greater Cincinnati area.

The boys started off strong again today shooting a total of 1049, and were in 4th place after the 1st game! But then after moving to a different pair of lanes, they could not get things going again and the scores started to drop for the next 2 team games. However, Sophomore Ethan Rowe threw the first 10 strikes in a row to start the day, and came up just short of a perfect game, shooting an amazing 289 game! He continued tearing up the lanes with 2 more awesome scores of 235 & 208, to finish with a 732 series, and a 244 average! Way to go! Junior James Prater shot great also, bowling a very nice 217, 182, & 180! Junior Matthew Minor had a great 1st game also with a 195, and Junior Austin Smith shot a 201 game!

Unfortunately, the team was in 16th place before starting the Baker round and 220 pins from the cut line. They started off slow with a 173 & 154, but then came storming back with a 202, 197, 200, & 243, to finish with a 194 average! The team had an amazing season, and Coach Larry, all the parents, relatives, and supporters are VERY PROUD of them! We’ll be back next year!

Now for some exciting news, Ethan qualified for the State Championships as an individual! With his 732 series, he finished as the #3 bowler of the 5 that get to advance as individuals next Saturday, March 9th at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl! Congratulations Ethan! Go get ’em!
