Girls Varsity Bowling · Girls Varsity Bowling place 10th at Sweet 16 Tournament

The Girls Varsity Bowling team finished in 10th place out of 15 teams today in the Sweet 16 tournament held at Poelking South Lanes.

The format is 2 regular games, then 2 Baker games, followed by lunch, and then head-to-head best 3 out 5 Baker games until a champion is determined.

The girls struggled on the lanes today as the tournament used this year’s pattern that will be used for Sectionals and Districts next month. Spares are the key, and plenty were missed today. Leading the team was Senior Emily Cupp, who bowled back-2-back 202 games! She missed making the All-Tournament Team by just 8 pins! Way to go Emily! Junior Emma Cox had her best day of the season so far when she rolled a 132 game and then a nice 174! Great job! Sophomore Mary Fletcher started off slow with a 120, but came back with a good score of 153! Sophomore Audrey Fletcher threw a 136 & 126! Freshman Katlyn Boggs bowled a 142 and Sophomore Autumn Collins had a 118!

The girls then bowled 2 Baker games, with scores of 135 & 112.

After lunch, the Middies were ranked 10th and had to go up against the #1 team in the GMC, Hamilton. The girls lost the 1st game, came back with a very nice 191 to win game #2, but then Big Blue won the next 2 games, and unfortunately eliminated our girls from the tournament.

The Lady Middies will head to Gilmore Lanes on Wednesday to face another GMC team, Lakota West.
