Our Boys Varsity team finished in 3rd place today out of 20 teams at the Big Blue Challenge tournament at Rollhouse Lanes in Fairfield!

This was the 1st tournament of the year, and we’ve only had 1 match so far, but this team is already working together and supporting each other from start to finish! Today’s format was 3 regular games and 6 Baker games. A Baker game is when you take 5 bowlers that take turns bowling in order to complete a game for 1 score. Total pinfall with all games included determines the winner.

Junior Ethan Rowe ripped up the lanes with an amazing 3-game series of 720, which included games of 238, 278, & 204! He also finished 2nd highest of all bowlers and made the All-Tournament team! Great job Ethan! Senior Matthew Minor was pretty consistent on the lanes by tossing in back-2-back 183 games, and followed it up with a 197! Senior Austin Smith had 2 strong games himself when he bowled a nice 209 & 193! Fellow Senior James Prater also had a good day by throwing a 210 & 187, and teammate and another Senior Jacob Cowgill rolled a 192 & 170!

The team was sitting in 4th place after the 1st round, and never left the top 5 the whole day! Going into the Baker Round, the team was down 112 pins from the 3rd place team that they had to bowl with, but that didn’t stop them from turning it up a notch! Combining for games of 180, 217, 237, 169, 189, & 201 (which averages out to 199 per game), they were able to secure their spot for 3rd place and walk out with medals!

Coach Larry could not be happier or more proud of the team in what they were able to accomplish today in their 1st tournament, since the season just started over a week ago! Keep it up boys!

GO MIDDIES! 10 UP!!! 10 DOWN!!!
